Questions on expenses YOUR OPINION PLEASE
Race Fans, Race Teams, track Owners, Promoters
Would Like Your Opinions. Some May Not Agree That's Ok , But With Car Counts Down Tracks Closing Teams Selling Out Maybe Its Time To Look At Ways To Promote More For The Teams And Give Them Reasons To Continue Racing Verse More Reasons To Walk Away.
1) Why Is It The Responsibility Of The Car Owner Or Driver To Rent A Transponder To Score There Car,
My Point Is The Teams Are Putting On The Show For The Promoter To Charge Fans To Get In To Watch Them Race It Should Be At There Expense To Score The Cars Or The System To Speed Up The Show For Fan Friendly Evening Of Entertainment
I Was Told Its 20.00 Plus A 200.00 Deposit Each Night , The Deposit Is Returned But Still Why Charge The Teams Another 20.00
2) Why Does The Teams Owner Or Driver Pay To Get In The Pits To Race, Why Doesn't Each Team Receive 2 Free Passes To Get In To Race. They Are Working To Put The Show On The Owner And The Driver In My Opinion.
My Point Is They Have Thousands Of Dollars Invested To Race And Without Race Cars A Race Track Or Promoter Has Nothing To Sell To There Fans To Watch. Also Seem As Team Get All The Expense Like The Transponder One Above, Expensive Tires, Expensive Fuel And Some Times A Entry Fee To Race.
Do Basketball Player Pay To Play In The Court Or Baseball Or Other Professional Sports To Participate , My Son In High School Don't Or In College , Yes They Have A Cost To Go To School But Not To Preform For The School Or Stadium They Play In Where A Promoter Charges Fans To Watch Them.
3) Why Should Any Track Or Series Be Able To Cut There Purse For Any Given Race, It Cost The Teams All The Same Dollars To Get To And To Participate To Win The Advertised Purse. Owning A Track Is A Business So If Something Happens To Hurt Your Business It Should Not Be Taken Out On The Teams So They Can Keep More Profit On That Given Race.
Not All Businesses Make A Profit Everyday Or Week Or Month Its An Year Around Business, So If They Make On One Loose On One Then They Hope To Average Out On The Black Or Profitable Side Of There Business Plan. I Don't Agree It Should Be Cut From The Purse.
My Point Is If I Was In Business To Sell Hot Dogs And Need To Sell 100 At 2.00 Each To Get My 200.00 In Sale And Rain Comes Along And I Only Sell 50 Hot Dogs I Can't Just Say And Demand 4.00 A Dog To Get My 200.00 Needed , Then Why If It Rains Or People Don't Show Up Can Promoter Cut The Purses , Its A Risk Of Being In Business And In Business There Is Know Guarantees , That Why Its Called Business Not Profit.

1. If they just handed them out some would not be returned. A deposit is the best way for a track to make sure they get the equipment back. There are a lot of tracks going to transponders and they are placed in the race car. If the equipment is damaged in a crash or some other way why should the track be responcible for the cost to replace it?
2. They should pay to get in just like everyone else. The track is providing a racing surface with light's, emergency equipment for their safety, track personel to run the race and many more expenses that come out of the promoters pocket along with the purse. Who is to say the driver will make the race at all? Matbe once inside the gate the car loses an engine in hotlaps? The track makes it's money by selling ticket's and everyone who enter's should pay for a ticket unless they work for the track.
3. I'm not in favor of cutting a purse but most tracks that do this are counting on ticket sales to pay the purse. These track's are having financial difficulties and do not have the money set aside to take a loss. Most times the choice is cut the purse or write a bad check. Usually when purses are being cut the track is close to shutting it's doors and the promoter is doing everything he can to keep them open.

1. To cover the cost of a lost or damaged transponder. Cars wreck and the system ain't cheap.
2. Tracks run on a very small margin and need every penny of revenue to cover the large amount of unseen expenses.
3. Tracks cut purses for many reasons such as losing 1-day of a 2-day show. Some tracks need both nights from both gates to break even or even make 1 dollar. Try holding a major show and weather or a bad crowd is on hand. I bad race can kill a track for the season or forever.
There are other forms that participants pay to play, such as Rodeo. I would suggest getting to know your local promoter and find out actually how tough this racetrack business. It can give ya an ulcer and gray hair fast.

Pay for transponders-----pay for numerous pit passes-----pay entry fee, the list goes on and on. For the promoter----pay the rent----pay the utilities---pay the insurance----pay the help and pay the other expenses incurred. No wonder Dirt Late Model racing is a bad investment. For professional DLM racing to survive, admission cost must rise or your local track will be forced to give them up. The best scenario is more sponsership for the driver and for your local track.
